4th Jazzing: Master Classes

 


4t Jazzing Festival de Jazz de Sant Andreu together with the  Taller de Músics  organizes two days of master classes: on Thursday, the 28th and Friday, the 29th of September, where our guest artists, renowned musicians nationally and internationally, offer us their knowledge and baggage.
The master classes take place at the Superior Studies School Escola d’Estudis Superiors Musicals Taller de Músics located on the top floor of the Cultural Center Can Fabra at c / Segre, 24-32 (Pl. Can Fabra) 08030 Barcelona, and will be free.
It is counted on the active participation of the attendees, they can carry their own instrument or participate only by talking, or just being listeners.

11.0h CHRISTOPH MALLINGER (VIOLIN JAZZ)

Jazz and singing violinist with a language that mixes tradition and modernity. He lives in Austria, where he leads several groups.
He will talk about his career and experience about the violin in jazz and improvisation in general.

12.45h FREDRIK NORÉN (TRUMPET/BIG BAND)

Director of the Stockholm Jazz Orchestra and main trumpeter. He works on the promotion of jazz music among young people in the Swedish Jazz Federation and in the promotion and dissemination of jazz in the regions of his country, Sweden.

The trumpeter and big band director will talk about different aspects of the instrument and improvisation.

11.00h Classe Magistral a càrrec de Perico Sambeat i Joe Magnarelli.

Together they will talk about improvisation, composition and present their work together PÓRTICO, with songs composed by the two great musicians.
The saxophonist Perico Sambeat is considered one of the great musicians of Spanish jazz. He has earned enormous prestige for his extraordinary professional career, both inside and outside Spain. With more than twenty albums as a leader and more than a hundred as an accompanist, they stand out for their work with great figures like Brad Mehldau, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Tete Montoliu, Michael Brecker, Pat Metheny and a long list of others.
Energetic and passionate, Joe Magnarelli is considered one of the best trumpeters who has been able to transfer the tradition of bebop to our days.
Formed in the big bands of Lionel Hampton and Buddy Rich, graduated with Toshiko Akiyoshi and a Ph.D. with Tom Harrell, Magnarelli was also a member of Ray Barretto’s sextet and at the same time he built his career as a solo leader.
